The resistance to airflow inside your duct system — like blood pressure for your HVAC. Too high strains the blower and cuts efficiency.
Why this matters for your home
Static pressure is the resistance air meets as it travels through your ducts, filter, and coil — essentially the blood pressure of your HVAC system. We measure it to judge whether air can move freely or is being choked somewhere along the way.
High static pressure from undersized ducts, a too-dense filter, or a dirty coil forces the blower to strain, cuts airflow, and shortens equipment life. Checking it is a quick diagnostic that often explains comfort and efficiency complaints a thermostat alone can't.
